Description
Field of the invention [0001] The present invention relates to a sliding cage for guiding the opening and closing movements of a mold, such as for example a mold for processing cold metal sheets, as well as a mold provided with this cage.
State of the art [0002] In order to reduce the clearance between the punch and the die, on the molds for cutting metal sheets it is known to mount tubular sliding cages with balls or rollers. These cages each comprise a tubular casing on which a plurality of rolling bodies is mounted, which in the two types of cages are, respectively, balls or rollers. Each cage is inserted in a suitable cavity of a mold-holder plate - die-holder or punch-holder - and a guide pin is inserted into the axial cavity of the cage - also commonly known as a guide column - integral with the other mold-holding plate. The rolling bodies protrude from the wall of the tubular casing both outwards and towards the inside of the casing itself, so as to be able to roll both on the walls of the cavity of one of the mold-holder plates and on the sides of the guide pin. The mutual engagement between the guide columns and the relative female seats obtained on the other half-mold guides the two half-molds in their opening and closing movements making them couple with the required precision. Compared to the roller cages, the ball cages allow higher mold opening and closing speeds but on the other hand it is less stable, given the support on one point, and allows greater games and flexibility. The ball cages follow a rectilinear movement and, after a certain number of cycles and being preloaded, wear out the columns producing lines that shorten the operating life of the mold.
[0003] Roller cages are more rigid, stable and precise than ball cages. In fact, working on an arc of circumference the rollers have greater support which is transformed into greater rigidity, stability and precision of the cage. The increased contact surface, on the other hand, creates a greater development of heat during operation, a development that clearly grows in proportion to the quantity and speed of rolling of the rollers themselves. Moreover, roller cages generally involve higher production costs than ball bearings.
[0004] An object of the present invention is to obviate the aforementioned drawbacks and in particular to provide a tubular sliding cage for molds which offers the advantages both of the ball cages and of the known type of roller cages.
Summary of the invention [0005] This object is achieved, in a first aspect of the present invention, with a sliding cage having the characteristics according to claim 1.
[0006] In a second aspect of the invention, this object is achieved with a mold having the characteristics according to claim 8.

1. A sliding cage (1) for mold guides, comprising a) a tubular casing (3) which forms a longitudinal internal cavity (5); b) a plurality of rolling bodies (7, 9) fixed to the wall of the tubular casing (3) so as to: b.1) project from the sides of the casing (3) itself towards the outside and be able to roll on the walls internal of a sliding cavity (11) of a mold (13), such as for example a mold for cutting, folding or drawing metal sheets, in which sliding cavity (11) the sliding cage (1) is inserted into so that it can slide longitudinally; and b.2) protrude into the longitudinal internal cavity (5), and can roll on the sides of a guide column (19) of the mold (13), when the guide column (19) is inserted and slides longitudinally in the longitudinal internal cavity (5); in which cage (1) a first part of the rolling bodies are balls (9), and a second part of the rolling bodies are rollers (7) arranged to roll with their sides on the inner walls of the sliding cavity (11) of the mold (13) and / or on the sides of the guide column (19) of the mold (13).

7. Slide cage (1) according to claim 5, wherein the third circumferential band of balls (23) extends for a height (L23) equal to 0 greater than the heights (L21, L25) of the roller strips (21, 25).

Mold (13) comprising: - at least two half-molds (15, 17) arranged to open and close, approaching and moving away from one another according to a predetermined approach direction, where one of the two half-molds (15) comprises at least one column of guide (19), the other of the two half-molds (17) forms at least one sliding cavity (11); - at least one sliding cage (19) according to one of the preceding claims is inserted in the at least one sliding cavity (11) so that the at least one guide column (19) can slide longitudinally in the internal longitudinal cavity (5) guiding the movements for the mutual approach and departure of the two half-molds (15, 17); and wherein the plurality of rolling bodies (7, 9): b.1) project from the sides of the casing (3) itself outwards and can roll on the inner walls of the sliding cavity (11); and / or b.2) project into the internal longitudinal cavity (5) and can roll on the sides of the guide column (19).
